Some Simon Malls Stop Selling Visas

In 2014 Simon Malls spun off many of their properties into a new company. Until today, these malls have continued to operate as Simon Malls, but that is about to change. Starting March 1st all of these former Simon Malls will be operated under the WP Glimcher brand.

Along with the switchover of names, comes the end of their relationship with Blackhawk Network for Visa gift cards. As of today these former Simon Malls will no longer sell Visa gift cards. Malls that remain under the Simon brand are still selling and will continue to sell these cards as far as I know.

You can find a full list of the WP Glimcher Malls which are no longer branded as Simon here. If your local mall isn’t on this list then everything should be business as usual. For more information on this changeover, see this Flyertalk post.

  1. Title is not correct and misleading. All Simon Malls sell gift cards. If the mall was sold then it is no longer a Simon Mall. This is a great example of a misleading title for sensationalism and I salute you. The correct way would be “Former Simon Malls, now WP Glichmer, may no longer sell gift cards”.

    • Plus, how do you know that none of the Glimcher malls sell gift cards? Is that an assumption based on some reports from some locations, or was there an official notice that they no longer sell gift cards throughout the country? TIA

  2. wow, I too didn’t see this elsewhere, so thanks for the alert. Wish I’d seen this coming. Takes out the three major simon malls I’d used a lot before (in ch’ville & Richmond, VA plus melbourne, fl. ) wow. Ok, now where’s the link to the simon malls still selling the visa gc’s.? the normal sm locator doesn’t yet reflect the deletions…. http://www.simon.com/mall

  3. First, this is really important information which I did not previously have. Thank you for posting it, Shawn. Second, I literally FREAKED OUT when I read the title of your post. After I calmed down, I checked the list and found that one (1) of my two (2) SMs were on the list. Heading out this afternoon to validate the on-going Visa GC status of the non-listed facility. Thanks again for this important information.
