Southwest Extends Flight Calendar – Spring Break Now Bookable
Southwest Airlines has this annoying policy where they only release flight schedules 6-8 months in advance. Even though it is annoying it is always a little exciting when they finally extend the calendar. Especially when a heavy travel time frame is released like a holiday or spring break. Yesterday Southwest extended out the calendar to April 7th 2019.
The great thing about Southwest is that you can cancel award flights without any penalty. That automatically makes their frequent flyer program one of the best in the biz. Even if you can’t stand their boarding procedure you book them and lock in the rate as a safety flight in case something else doesn’t open up. Since you can cancel at any time there is no harm in playing it safe.

Interesting, I was on the phone with Southwest customer Service both yesterday and today and both reps told me the next expansion of the schedule was not until November 15. However, the rep said it is subject to change.
It did seem a little sooner than usual this time around.
