SPG Partners with Hertz, Status Match and 200 Starpoints per Rental

SPG has added a new partner, Hertz. You’re now able to earn SPG points for Hertz car rentals and also get a discount. This was previously announced and expected since Hertz was a Marriott partner already.

The Offer

Get up to 35% off base rates and 200 Starpoints on Hertz rentals.

Plus, when you achieve Marriott Rewards or SPG Platinum elite status, you’ll be eligible to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Five Star® status. Marriott Platinum Premier and SPG Platinum Ambassador members will receive President’s Circle status.

To earn Starpoints, SPG members must add their SPG account number to their car rental reservations or book at spg.com/hertz.

Conclusion

It’s always good to see new partnerships emerge. This one was expected, but the earning rate is a bit of a letdown. You can certainly do better with other Hertz partners. However, if you have status with SPG this should be good news since you can match for Five Star or President’s Circle status.
