A New Portal with Big Payouts

I use the portal comparison site Cash Back Monitor quite often. It helps me find the best portal rates so I can get the maximum return on my online shopping. Recently I noticed a new portal had showed up in their comparison engine. Not only did it show up, but it was almost always at or near the top in payouts. For that reason I decided to give it a try.

Splender – High Payouts

The new portal is called Splender and their payout rates intrigued me. For example here they are at the top of Staples cashback:

And here they are tied with ShopatHome for the top spot for eBay cashback:

They aren’t always the best, but for many stores they seem to have matched the highest offer. Since I love to test these things out I recently made a test purchase and it was a success!

Test Purchase

To test the portal I decided to make an eBay purchase last week. The purchase was made on 11/11/2015 for $285. This morning (5 days later) I received the following email:

What great news! My payout is tracked properly, the amount is correct and it says I will get it within 45 days. (I don’t really like the use of the word “at least”, but I doubt it means much.) This is much better than Inbox Dollars who never sent any tracking and has at least for me not paid out on all of my purchases.

Splender’s Interface

I also really like Splender’s interface. It is clean, easy to use and pleasant. Most portals are clunky, but not this one. Additionally, you can even see your store clicks in your account history to make sure everything registered correctly. This is a feature that not all portals have and one that I really like.

Cartera

Many people know the company Cartera since they run a lot of the mileage portals including the portals for Delta, United, American, Southwest and Alaska. I have never had issues with them, but some people have. This portal appears to be their cashback version of the mileage portals. This is good news if you like portals run by big companies, but I know some may not like it.

From their “About Us” page:

Splender was created by Cartera Commerce, the largest provider of company based shopping loyalty programs in the U.S. Cartera houses an experienced, award-winning team of technology and marketing professionals with extensive knowledge within the eCommerce industry dedicated to creating your best possible online shopping experience.

Sign-Up Bonus

Like other portals, Splender has a referral program. If you sign-up through someone’s referral link you will get a $5 bonus after $50 worth of purchases. The person who refers you will get $10 after you hit that threshold. You can find the MtM referral link below if you care to use it. The $50 shouldn’t be hard to hit on eBay with deals like the one’s I wrote about earlier.

Conclusion

This is a portal that I like and will continue to use. I like the interface and like that it tracks my clicks. While Cartera is a bit controversial, I have never had any issues with them and am fine with the company. Of course we will see if these high payouts continue, but for now I’ll add it to my list of portals that I use and click through whenever they have the highest payout!

  1. Shawn — Thanks for the heads up about Splender. I signed up through your referral link and have already put through more than $50 through the site, so you should have $10 headed your way at some point. One thing you might want to mention in your blog post is that there is a $2.50 inactivity fee per month that gets assessed after 24 months of inactivity. Also, like many other cash back sites, you have to accumulate $10 in cash back before they pay out. Both worth keeping in mind if you don’t plan to use Splender frequently.

    • Doubtful, but considering successful cashback (that doesn’t get clawed back ) from Staples is pretty much nonexistent these days it won’t hurt you to try it. What do you have to lose?

Not to mention, if a portal like that works for gift cards you better believe it probably won’t be outed since it’ll get killed quickly.

  2. Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and signed up. Despite a tired finger from clicking DELETE on so many emails via phone can never have too many shopping portals!
