Conclusion

I had never heard of the Dining Out gift card before a similar sale Staples had two weeks ago. It looks like they work like a regular gift card at any of the above mentioned restaurant choices. A very interesting idea that I am sure many of you will partake in. The gift card can’t be resold so will be best for personal use. Same goes for Sephora gift cards. The 10% discount is not enough to turn in a profit.

Make sure to use a card that earns a bonus at office stores like the Chase Ink Cash or the American Express Simply Cash

  1. I’m hoping somebody can answer a question about the dining out card. I purchased 2 of them during the sale in April. I noticed on the back of the card that it tells the cashier to treat it as a credit transaction instead of a gift card. If I try using these cards at a restaurant with a server, will it preauthorize the transaction for 20% more than the amount of the bill? If it does that, there’s no way to spend the entire balance without going to the fast food places listed on the card (with no tipping). If anyone can let me know their experience with this card it would be much appreciated.
