Staples Amex Gift Card Rebate
Staples is bringing back one of their gift card rebate deals, unfortunately it is for Amex gift cards this time. From 8/30/15 – 9/5/15 you can get a $20 Staples gift card via Easy Rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Amex gift cards.
For me, there are a couple of issues with this deal. First, it is one per household, although I know some of you have multiple addresses you can use. Second, these cards are much harder to liquidate than Visa gift cards. Last, the rebate is in the form of a Staples gift card which isn’t the same as cash.
Still, this isn’t a terrible deal if you live close to a Staples and can easily liquidate the cards. If you purchase 2 x $200 cards the total will be $413.90. After the rebate your net “cost” is $393.90 and if you use a Chase Ink card then you would also earn 2,070 Ultimate Rewards points. An ok deal for some, but not as good as the Visa or MC deals.
Cash for Tuna
A few years ago a customer of Starkist Tuna accused the company of underpacking their cans slightly. That class action suit has now been settled and Starkist has agreed to pay customers in cash or tuna. Here is how it works according to the class action website:
You are a Class Member if you are a resident of the United States of America who purchased from February 19, 2009 through October 31, 2014:
One or more 5 oz. can of Chunk Light Tuna in Water,
One or more 5 oz. can of Chunk Light Tuna in Oil,
One or more 5 oz. can of Solid White Tuna in Water, or
One or more 5 oz. can of Solid White Tuna in Oil (collectively, the “StarKist Products”)
When filing a claim, you can either choose a cash payment of $25 or to receive $50 worth of tuna! (I chose cash.) Since it has been so long, you don’t have to furnish receipts for the tuna purchases, however you must certify under penalty of perjury that you did indeed buy the tuna. You can find out more information and file your claim here. Claims must be filed by November 20, 2015.
Citi Premier 60K Resurrected!
Yesterday I wrote about a new unpublished 60K offer for the ThankYou Premier card. Unfortunately the intitial link died pretty quickly, however a new link surfaced. As of the time of this posting it is still live. If you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, head over to my original post where I provide full analysis. I’m not sure how long this new link will last considering how quickly Citi killed the first one.
Have a great Saturday!
