Use Alaska Miles for Singapore Awards

Alaska Airlines miles are one of the most valuable airline miles out there. And now there’s more added value as you can redeem your miles on Singapore operated flights.

Alaska Airlines and Singapore Airlines announced their partnership back in 2017. But implementation has been very slow. Reciprocal mileage earning started a couple of month after and then you were able to redeem Singapore miles for Alaska Airlines flights. But it took a long time for Alaska Airlines miles to become redeemable for Singapore Airlines flights.

Nonetheless that day is here. You can even redeem Alaska miles for Singapore’s business class and first class suites.

Award Chart

Alaska has posted award charts for Singapore redemptions between US and Asia:

And within Asia:

These are prices for one way awards. So not really a great way to redeem Alaska Airlines miles. But having yet another redemption option is always good news.

Conclusion

The ability to redeem miles for Singapore operated flights adds more value to the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan program. With that said, the award chart isn’t very attractive. So just because you can use Alaska Miles for Singapore awards, doesn’t mean you automatically should.

Alaska miles are not the easiest to earn. So if you want to fly Singapore, it’s a better idea to transfer points from any of the four major currency programs, Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou or Capital One.

  1. Not that it would be easy to acquire, I wonder if FC includes Suites Class? Ya, lots of miles but marginally fewer than Emirates. Singapore Air is top-shelf.
