Chase Freedom 2015 Bonus Categories

I have written quite a lot about Chase Freedom, because it is a card I carry and use often. You can find my full review and everything you need to know about the card here.

One of the main features of the Freedom card is rotating 5% categories each quarter. The Chase Freedom 2015 bonus categories have mostly been revealed.

The Bonus Calendar

As you can see above, only the 1st quarter has been fully revealed, but it is a good one. In the 1st quarter the Freedom will pay 5% back at one of my all time favorite categories – GROCERY STORES!

The rest of the calendar includes bonuses at gas stations, restaurants and Amazon.com, although all of the categories have yet to be revealed. Either way, I am excited about the first quarter.

An Increased Bonus & Should You Apply

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the Freedom does currently have a $200 sign up bonus, which is twice the normal $100. With that said, the increased bonus normally comes around a couple of times per year. Remember to always move at your own pace.

If you are planning to apply, you can support the site by clicking through on my credit cards page. You can also get the same bonus by applying directly on the Chase website. If you get the card now you will be eligible for 5x on up to $1,500 in spending at Amazon, Zappos and select department stores through December 31 and the above categories next year!

  1. It is marketed as 5% cash back, but I prefer the points – so is it 5x points on purchases at grocery stores in Q1?

    • If you only have the Freedom card the points are good for 1% cash back. If you have a Sapphire Preferred or Ink card you can transfer the points and then use them on travel partners like United, Southwest & Hyatt.

      • I do have the INK card – but it is under my business name and therefor a different login account at chase.com. Is that going to be an issue??

        • No it isn’t an issue since both accounts are in your name. You don’t have to do this, but you can have them add your personal account(s) to your business login so everything shows up in the same place. It only takes about five minutes over the phone.
