eBay Bucks Bonus & Staples Gift Cards

eBay Bucks Bonus & Staples Gift Cards

This is just a quick post to let you know that eBay is targeting many members with a 4X (8%) eBay Bucks offer and it is awesome! Why? Well, those Staples gift cards I wrote about the other day are still available, but my guess is they will sell out soon.

eBay Bonus Bucks Offer Details

• 4% in eBay Bucks on every qualifying item of $50 or more
• 6% in eBay Bucks on every qualifying item of $100 or more
• 8% in eBay Bucks on every qualifying item of $150 or more

The Promotion starts at 12PM PT on June 22, 2016, and ends at 6PM PT on June 22, 2016. Note: Despite the terms, you generally earn bonus bucks if the entire purchase is over the qualifying amount. For example, two or more Staples gift cards cost over $150 and thus should earn 8% in eBay Bucks.

The Deal

Buy a $100 Staples eGift Card for only $85 – LIMIT 5

You can find the full details of how to make a profit on these cards in my original post, but here is a quick breakdown of the math:

  • Cost of 5 cards: $425
  • 8% in eBay Bucks: -$34
  • 1.3% cashback from iConsumer: -$5.53
  • Final cost: $385.47
  • Sell for 84%: $420
  • Total Profit: $34.53
  • 5X Ultimate Rewards earned with Ink: 2,125

If none of that makes sense then head over to my original post where it is all explained in much more detail! As of now there are about 2,000 gift cards left, which is only about 400 sets if people all purchase five. I would be surprised if this deal lasts since I think many people were holding out on purchasing in the hopes of getting an eBay Bucks offer. There are also some gas and other gift cards on sale, but Staples cards are the real prize.

Happy shopping!

  1. So frustrated with PayPal… Just wanted to get 2 staples GC, but these PayPal reps kept saying that the system sees the trans as a security risk and nothing they can do, PITA!

    • Yep, I’m ready to leave them a paper bag filled with goodies at their San Jose corporate location. The problems aren’t new but they’re still extremely frustrating all the same. Two calls, 5+ text verification, 3+ phone verification and 1 password change allowed me to buy 2 staples gift cards. Their system flagged me as logging in from an unrecognized location… umm ok… same laptop sitting on my dining room table, no vpn or IP issues.

Not that it helps any but you can tell that their reps not only know about these issues but appear to be equally as frustrated and sympathetic towards issues that many are facing. What’s amazing is how long these issues persist for without any improvement (you could argue it’s only getting worse).

      • Yup, I too deeply resent ebay/paypal — and Shawn too for being their shill. Next time you put up one of these posts Shawn, do your credibility and reputation a favor by including a warning that hey, not my fault that half or you and more won’t be able to get it to work. (even if they sent you the invitation!)

        • Woah, quite the vitriolic response. Since when is it Shawn’s responsibility to warn us about Paypal? Oh and for the record, he has commented about it over the years. We all have. Beyond that, it’s common knowledge that Paypal is a mine field and YMMV.

It sounds to me like you have an axe to grind with ebay/paypal. Maybe you’d be better suited directing it at them or simply letting it go (hint: you won’t get anywhere with them). It comes with the territory of playing the game and it’s obviously still profitable for us given that we do it. With that said I do refrain from some deals now as the reward isn’t worth the ebay/paypal frustrations. That’s entirely up to you and I though, not Shawn.

  2. The pay by credit card option is grayed out for me. It only let’s me pay through paypal. Anybody have the same problem?

  3. Hey Shawn, cut out the cheerful nonsense when hawking these MISERABLY frustrating ebay promos….. Tonight, it was my wife’s turn to try buying a mere two Staples gc’s via her lightly used ebay account…. (and yes, she was “targeted” )

But as soon as she tried to put just two of these cards in her account, the MISERABLE ebay grinch strikes again:

“Something went wrong. Please try to check out again.”

Why the hell do they send us these promos, these invites if they make is so d*mned impossible to use?

I HATE this…. and frankly, resent your chipper tone in being a shill for ebay. All grand that you apparently got to use it, but you know what you can do with your cheerleading us on into ebay purgatory.

PS: You said you would be “surprised” if any of these cards were remaining as of 9pm est. Well SURPRISE — they were still some remaining….. Guess we’re not the only ones mad as hell at ebay/paypal. (and yes, you too)

    • Yes I get it, you dislike me and these eBay promos. I know a lot of people who generated valuable UR points for minimal effort. I too get frustrated with eBay’s systems and having to verify my account and I certainly am not a shill, but I will share these deals since they are good for my readers. You can choose whether or not you want to try to purchase them as well. That is your choice. As for this deal, I personally purchased it and feel comfortable with the content of the post.

  4. I had issues last time with PayPal but ultimately was able to resolve them. This time, no luck – seems to be pretty random.

I don’t understand the hate you are getting for this. Despite the issues I encountered with PayPal, I do appreciate you doing this.
