The 2013 European Adventure

My family and I have taken several long term trips over the past eight years including our year and a half long backpacking trip from 2007-2008 and last year’s three month European Adventure.  These types of trips are difficult to pull off in both the planning and execution, but I hope to share our on the ground experience.

Over the next couple of weeks, in this new series Anatomy Of A Road Trip, I will break down last year’s three month trip through Central & Eastern Europe.  While I will share some of the photos and stories from the places we visited, the main purpose is to show you the logistics of how we traveled and where we stayed.  Perhaps this will help those of you who are planning similar trips or open your eyes to other ways of travel.

I shared the above map on our Facebook page when we completed our trip last year.  It looks like a crazy nightmare of a trip, but in reality it was amazing and something that I will remember forever.  In order not to overwhelm you with the amount of information, I will be breaking up the report into several parts.

Several Parts For Your Consuming Pleasure

Part 1 – London, Italy & Mediterranean Cruise (Greece, Turkey, Cyprus)

Part 2 – Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzogovina

Part 3 – Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo

Part 4 – Bulgaria & Romania

Part 5 – Hungary, Slovakia, Austria

Part 6 – Poland, Czech Republic & Germany

While this may seem like a lot of segments, I plan to explain in detail where we went and more importantly how we planned and traveled from place to place.  Also, I hope to provide as much detail as possible about the resources used to find out transport & lodging information and how we used miles & points when possible to make everything cheaper.

Conclusion

This series will start next week and will finish within a few weeks.  If it is well received, then I will continue with a breakdown of a summer road trip my son and I are taking this summer.  Spending long periods of time on the road can get expensive, but it doesn’t have to be.  I am truly excited to share this information and to help people get out there and travel!
