Southwest’s Schedule Extended to Summer & Details on the Next Extension

Southwest’s Schedule Extended Through August 5, 2016

Booking advanced reservations on Southwest can be difficult since the schedule is normally only available on average about 6 months out. As of today Southwest has extended their schedule through August 5, 2016. That means we have about 7 months of booking availability including most of the Summer.

Most of Summer

Previously the schedule was only open until early June, so this new extension allows you to plan most of your summer trips. Remember Southwest will refund you the difference if the price drops, so it is generally good to get in early for flights during peak times. Unfortunately with Southwest’s new dynamic award pricing, flights may now cost more points than ever before on popular routes.

Next Extension?

Southwest has announced that the schedule will open up through November 4, 2016 on February 18, 2016. If you have trips planned from August and November, set your calendar for 2/18 to book early. Ding!
