Devaluations are much easier to swallow if earning the miles for the program is easy.  While there are many American Airlines cards out there I agree that not having a meaningful transfer partner makes them tougher to deal with.  I am surprised they don’t pair up with Citi ThankYou points even if at a less than 1 to 1 ratio.  They are missing out on all of the money they would make selling Citi even more AA miles.

You can always learn something when dealing with terrible/annoying situations like this.  And hopefully you can learn from others.  I know I did when I had my LifeMiles run in.
