Cheese Debit Card, No SSN Required Plus up to 3% APY

The Cheese Debit Card is a card aimed at international students. It doesn’t require a social security number and it also offers a cashback program and a interesting APY. Most banks and credit card issuers require a SSN. The Cheese debit card is the first of its kind in that it allows international students and non-citizens to easily sign up for a no-fee debit card that also comes with some good benefits.

Conclusion

Being able to get the card without a SSN could be useful to many people. Plus if you can refer friends, you can also earn a good interest rate. But there’s currently a waitlist, so let’s see if this actually happens. I signed up today myself and don’t see any extra information besides what’s already shown on the website.

Anyone signing up or has signed up before? Let me know.

  1. How is this legal? I thought the Patriot Act required SSN. Also how do they file the 1099-INT with the IRS for interest earned without an SSN?
