Citi Sears Spending Offer 11X

Citi Sears Spending Offer 11X

As a quick background, back in the last century a young kid (my wife) opened up a Sears credit card. Eventually she got married and added her husband to the card and at some point it converted into a Mastercard with a rewards scheme. Then awhile back Citi changed our rewards to ThankYou points!

Note: Some people have the Sears Mastercard that earns Shop Your Way Rewards. That card has 5%/3%/2% bonus categories. The ThankYou version of the card only earns 1X everywhere so I would earn 1,000 points from the normal spend plus a 10,000 point bonus if maxing out this promotion.

Sears Mastercard 11X Spending Offer

In the past year I have received other 11X offers along with a 6X offer as well. Here is the latest version I received the other day.

Citi Sears Spending Offer 11X

It offers 10X bonus ThankYou points in addition to the 1X the card normally earns whenever I use the card for online purchases. Past offers have been more restrictive, but it seems this offer works on all online purchases. I have a lot of those. 🙂

Perhaps the only downside is that my previous 11X offers have had caps of 10K and 6K respectively. This one is a bit lower at 5K, but it is less restrictive on how to earn the bonus.

Key Terms

  • This promotion is not transferable.
  • To qualify for this promotion, you must activate this promotion before the end of the promotional period.
  • You have the opportunity to receive 10X Bonus ThankYou Points (10X Bonus ThankYou Points per dollar spent) on eligible online purchases which total $200 or more (up to a maximum total of 5,000 Bonus ThankYou Points) and which are made with your Sears Mastercard and post to your account between 6/1/18 – 7/31/18.
  • These Bonus ThankYou Points are in addition to the 1 ThankYou Point per $1 spent on purchases that you already earn with your card. Online purchases are transactions made via a computer network or other online service, and as defined by the merchant.

Analysis

11X is 11X, especially when it can be earned for all online shopping. In this case I should be able to earn an easy 5,500 ThankYou points without too much effort. I will probably just use the card when I have online purchases on eBay or other online retailers. I spend thousands online per month for my businesses so that shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s also probably worth mentioning that these ThankYou points can be moved (up to 100K per year) into my ThankYou Premier or Prestige accounts where I can book airfare at 1.25 cents each or transfer them to travel partners.

Conclusion

The Sears Mastercard has continued to impress with these amazing spending offers. I particularly like this one since I can just earn the bonus points right from the comfort of my office. While ThankYou points aren’t the most valuable currency, they have quite a few great uses. I’ll take ’em.

  1. Didn’t see this offer, but similar ones have appeared for me in the past. I am sure I have you beat for time held on the Sears card. When I got mine in 1984 it was white and half the height of a regular credit card. A lousy two liter bottle of soda was the sign up offer in store!
Never a wonderful earning card, but the discounted gift cards were great. As I am sure many folks know, the G/C trade ups made this a great card to use. Still worth a 5% return at Sears, sock drawer otherwise. Hope Citi will rebrand it (P/C?) if Sears eventually goes away!

  2. Are you sure about the SYW rewards card bonus categories? I have one and I think mine only earns points for Sears spend and if there is a promotional offer.

  3. Shawn- does your version of the card w/ the thank you points still exist that we can apply for? or can we just apply for the Sears Shop your Way card- the SYW card you get points that you can redeem thru the Shop your way site?

  4. Does anyone know if online purchase with local retailers count? For example if I shop at HomeDepot.com or Lowes.com for either shipping or in-Store pickup.
