Delta’s Latest US Spring Flash Sale Is Pretty Horrible

Delta Flash Sale: US Spring Locations

Delta has been having flash sales right and left.  Most have been pretty good, like last week’s, but their latest one is a real dud.  They just sent out an email for their Spring flash sale for domestic travel.  The prices are for one way travel but roundtrip is required.  The prices are pretty bad for regular travel much less for a sale!

Conclusion

I thought this was a decent sale until I noticed that the prices were for one way flights.  How is Detroit to San Francisco for 44,000 miles round trip a sale?  This seems like they are simply advertising routes that they are struggling to sell tickets for but at normal prices. Stay away from this one!

  1. I have spoken out about these types of sales for years, Mark.

    Here is one example:

    https://thegate.boardingarea.com/dont-be-fooled-by-this-first-class-thanksgiving-2018-sale/

In that article, I wrote: “I have staunchly opined publicly for years that airfares should not be advertised in this manner. If an airline wants to advertise airfares one way, that should only be if the customer can purchase the ticket for a flight one way — not be based on the purchase of a round-trip itinerary, which is required for this particular sale.”

    • It is a deceptive practice for sure. Then the prices are terrible for one way flights any way. A lose lose this time around.
