Hyatt announced their new promotion for the early part of 2014. Called Endless Possibilities, the promotion allows you to earn either free nights or bonus points. Lets break it down.
|Nights Stayed During Promotion||Points Earned For This Tier||Total Points Earned For Promotion|
You can earn a free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt for every five nights you stay. The maximum number of free nights is 4 and these free nights must be redeemed by July 31, 2014.
On the low end (5 or 10 total stays), this promotion definitely favors the free nights. Considering a category 4 hotel is 15,000 points, you are seemingly coming out ahead. With that said, the free night expires pretty quickly so that is something to keep in mind and the best value comes with staying at a category 4 hotel.
If you are going to stay 15 nights then the math is very similar for both offers. You would receive three free nights in lieu of 30,000 points. Ideally you would be able to redeem those at a category 4 hotel, but with the quick expiration I would probably take the points.
At 20 nights there is no doubt that the points are a better deal. You can get 2 nights at a category 6 hotel which could easily cost over $1,000.
The promotion runs from January 15, 2014 through April 30, 2014. For a full list of the terms and conditions and to register for the promotion click here.
