Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong – Cheap & Amazing?!?

I love the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The service there is truly world class, it has one of the best club lounges in the Hyatt system and it ain’t exactly ugly either. I have taken my dad, my best friend and my family there each on separate occasions and have never had an issue (other than an erroneous charge after checking out). I quite simply love it, but the Grand is expensive!

On the other side of the water sits the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui which is a fine hotel with spectacular views of Victoria Harbour from many of its rooms and from the Regency Club. A little further from town (close to the mainland China border) you also have the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin. It’s a bit dated and far from most everything, but can be a good value.

Thankfully though there is a new hotel in town. Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong was formally known as Hotel Vic. It sits on Hong Kong Island in what looks like a pretty cool location. In addition, it features a club lounge (a first for Hyatt Centric I think?!?) and views of Victoria Harbour. But what is most impressive about this hotel, at least right now, are the prices.

Who wouldn’t want to stay on Hong Kong Island for only $112 USD++ per night? Yes, on nights where my beloved Grand Hyatt is 5X the cost, Hyatt Centric delivers what amounts to an incredible value and it looks like an awesome hotel too.

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong is a steal at these prices. Lounge access for all, the potential of a suite upgrade plus the other perks that Globalists get on property make this one heck of a value. Even when cash prices are high, the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong is a category 4, meaning it will only cost you 15,000 World of Hyatt points per night or you can even use a category 1-4 certificate.

Conclusion

Yes, I am a Hyatt fan and more specifically I am a Grand Hyatt Hong Kong fan, but with these prices I am willing to give Hyatt Centric a chance. Not only is it cheap, but dare I say it looks like a pretty amazing hotel on its own and I can’t wait to give it a try the next time I am in Hong Kong.

  1. Hey Shawn, you hit one of my pet peeves. Having been in supply chain/operations for over 30 years—when we buy parts/modules/finished goods at a great price it is considered inexpensive. :). We never want to tell our co-workers/customers we bought something cheap—too hard to explain why they would want it.

  2. Separate topic…Grand Hyatt Hong kong do they still allow full breakfast for globalist? This is only Hyatt that I know which let you have a full breakfast at the restaurant in lieu of having it at the club lounge without any upgrade fee. and their full breakfast buffet spread is pretty substantial. I was there 2 years ago.

    • It has gone back and forth over the years, however I can say in March they did allow us to have breakfast downstairs. When I stayed in 2017 they did not. In 2016 they did. Hopefully the full breakfast is here to stay!

  3. Insane. I would happily pay cash for a couple nights at those rates for that location. I have to imagine they will climb significantly.
