Should You Link Your AAdvantage & Dividend Miles Accounts Right Now?

AAdvantage & Dividend Miles Merger

Members who have logged into their AAdvantage or Dividend Miles account over the past few days have been prompted to link their AAdvantage & Dividend Miles accounts.

American Airlines wants you to link your accounts, because it will help them transition easier when the two programs are combined. With so many members, it no doubt will be a mess.

There really doesn’t seem to be a benefit of linking the accounts right now. You won’t be able to transfer miles back and forth and elite status won’t transfer over yet.

So Should You Link?

George at TBB posted that he is waiting to link his accounts in the hope that he is offered some miles to do it. I tend to agree with him.

Earlier this year Southwest offered members 750 miles for linking their Airtran accounts. I don’t see it as farfetched that American might do the same.

I do still plan to link my accounts before the final program merger date, since I want everything to go smoothly, but for now I think I will wait it out. How about you?

  1. I guess I would be proactive. I had no problems linking one account, but the other I’ve having issues so I had sent a email to CS. It’s not worth the risk having problems once things officially merge and your trying to combine miles to book something and your unable too because there is a issue.
