Matching Timeshare Offers

Yes – Matching Timeshare Offers Is Possible! My Experience Doing It

If you remember I recently set up a timeshare offer for my family’s trip to Orlando.  I was even able to get Hilton to give me more than originally offered by simply asking for it.  At the end of the day I was pretty happy with talking them down $50 and up 20,000 points.  I did feel like I probably could have done more but was was satisfied with what I got.  Then a week or two after I set up the trip a public offer came out that had 50,000 points. Now I wasn’t feeling so great about my negotiating skills. That got me to wondering, is matching timeshare offers possible?  You better believe it is!

Matching Timeshare Offers – My Experience

After I saw the increased offer I decided to simply ask for more.  I wanted Hilton to match me to the public offer.  To be honest it took more work than it should have, but I got it done.  Here is how I did it.

Reached Out to Hilton Twitter

I started off first with the Hilton Twitter team since I think they are great and are always helpful. They said that the timeshare company was a separate entity but they would let them know to contact me.  I figured that is what they would say but still reached out to see if they would just auto apply the difference in points to my account.  No dice though!  After a week I reached out again since I hadn’t heard anything.  They said they would send them a message.  Another week or so later the timeshare department finally reached out but it was already too late.

A Serendipitous Phone Call

A few days after I reached out to the Twitter team a second time I received a phone call from Hilton Vacations but it wasn’t because of me reaching out.  They wanted to confirm the details of my upcoming trip so I took advantage of the call and inquired about the match.  He said he had to “check with a manager” then 15 seconds later he said he could do it. Nice!  I asked for him to email me confirming the increase.  He sent me an email confirming the details of my trip but nothing about the increased points (or any points at all).

I Finally Get A Twitter Response

I responded to his email a few times asking for the increase in points to be confirmed. Shocking, there was no response. It appears service isn’t a part of Hilton Grand Vacations’ motto. I did receive an email from someone else asking if there was something I could help with so I told them about my issue.  They said this email was in response to the Hilton Twitter team telling them to contact me.  Then they said that they were not privy to my offer’s details and I would need to call in.  Awesome 😒.

Finally Calling In

I finally ended up where I probably should have started.  It appears that the Hilton Grand Vacations department is stuck in the 80’s and everything requires a phone call.  I called to confirm the details of my trip and the person read off 50,000 points as a part of the offer – perfect!

Final Thoughts

So long story short, it is possible to match timeshare offers if you see something better come out.  It will just take a phone call since it is difficult to get a competent response any other way.

All in all I am pretty happy with my haul.  I am getting 3 nights at a hotel going for over $200 a night plus 50,000 points worth another $200+.  Over $800 in value for $150 and 2 hours of my time.  I will take that kind of play any day and twice on Sunday!

  1. I leave on Monday for my Hilton Grand Vacations sales pitch vacation. 4 nights, 5 days at the Hilton Orlando ($300 per night over halloween week) they also gave me 40000 points and a stay later certificate for $200 to a hilton garden inn. All for just $199. I am super excited to get away and enjoy Universal Studios Horror Nights.

  2. What would happen if 2 single people each signed on for this on consecutive weeks? and shared 1 room 1 week and the other the next?
