Maxing Out The Latest Hyatt Promo – 2,000 Point A Night Rooms!
We covered World of Hyatt’s latest promotion yesterday but I wanted to dig into it a little deeper. We were a little behind the 8 ball writing about it since we were all traveling home from our New Orleans meet up Monday. But it appears there is a lot of misinformation out there right now on the 1,500 points a night part of the promo. A lot of people are reporting that this is just for paid stays and that is inaccurate. Award stays that include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday WILL earn World of Hyatt cardholders the 1,500 points per stay bonus. This is the way it has worked in the past, it is how it is written in the terms and I confirmed it with Hyatt. That means 2,000 point one night stays are going to be possible pretty soon.
Terms of the Offer
Here are the main terms of the promotion offer:
All Members: Register to earn 2X points everywhere, starting with your second qualifying stay from February 15 to May 15. (This is double the base points you would normally earn with your status level on paid stays).
Credit Cardmembers:Â World of Hyatt credit cardmembers can ALSO earn 1,500 Bonus Points with each qualifying stay, starting with the second, that includes a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night.

For the purpose of this offer, an eligible stay is defined as any stay at a participating hotel where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award for at least one night of their stay. As you can see the Q&A section clearly states that a free night award is an eligible rate. It does not have to be a cash stay. Just to be thorough I reached out to my Hyatt contact and they confirmed that is the case as well.
How Do You Get 2,000 Night Stays?
So how does this lead to 2,000 point a night stays. If you remember World of Hyatt is going to somewhat dynamic pricing in March. They will have off season, regular and peak season pricing. A category 1 hotel that codes as off season will be 3,500 points a night. If you do a one night stay on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday during the promo that night will earn you a 1,500 point bonus. That makes the night only 2,000 points.
If you found an area with multiple such properties you could hop back and forth for 3 nights each weekend during the promo to earn 3 elite nights for a total of 6,000 points. Not too shabby.
At this point we have no idea which hotels will code as off peak when the new chart is launched in March. If it is launched March 1st that would give you 10 eligible weekends to do a mattress run or 30 possible nights in total. Unless some of these hotels are near where you live I doubt anyone will be able to max this out but some people may want to take a weekend trip for 6,000 points and earn 3 elite night credits. It could make for some fun travel to places you would have never considered before.
Final Thoughts
If you were thinking that the 1,500 point bonus only worked on paid stays have no fear award stays work too. If you time it up right you could be in for some very cheap hotel stays come March. I would suggest getting that first stay knocked out before March if you are planning on playing around a bit with this promo. Be sure you register for it now because any stays before you register will not count.

I Agree about ” Cash and Points” usually NOT being a good value. But in those rare times it is, one would also receive double points on the cash spent during the latest promotion, it would seem.

Should be – usually not a great deal any longer since they charge 50% of the cash rate now but it should work.

Hmm. Trying to do the math to see if mattress running for globalist might be worth it. If off peak pricing is really going to be 3500 points (for cat 1) and getting 1500 back, may be worth it for those of us that casually travel and stay at hyatts. On the way to globalist, you get a cat 1-4 cert, a cat 1-7 cert, and 5K bonus points.
Since they limit it to weekends you can’t do it for the full amount but you could put a nice dent in it for sure.
Which rates are considered “Eligible Rate”? I am very curious about this term. I cannot find the definition of this in the Terms (worldofhyatt.com/terms).
I think anything on the regular page will work. I would lean towards thinking that corporate codes etc. don’t work but you could check with the Hyatt Twitter team to be sure on that.

@hal, 4000 points is only about $60, not $600.
It’s probably still most cost effective to spend $5k on your Hyatt card. For example, pay taxes $5000 * .0187 = $93.5 for 2 qualifying nights vs 4000 pts ~ $600. Granted, you don’t get a hotel room.
I would put the value of 4,000 points at around $70. If you can spend the $5K for cheaper for that then that is a better option. This does also allow you to travel as well so there is that. Should make for some cheap weekend trips if nothing else.
In the past on at least one occasion there was a distinction made for a Hyatt promotion like this between an award night on points and a free night from WOH/Chase CC. Did the Hyatt rep elaborate on that?

For 1500 and 2X points
The 2X points is only for paid stays.
But the free night certs and points stays will earn the 1,500 points. Cash stays will earn 1,500 as well as the 2X earning after the first stay.

Do you have any idea how the Mlife / Hyatt works as far as points ? If I give my Hyatt # when I check into say the Bellagio, do I get Hyatt points as well as Mlife points, or is it only one or the other ? If you don’t know off the top of your head, no big deal. I am going out soon and staying at the ExCaliber one night and then the Bellagio 3 nights and it seems like it would be best to give my Hyatt #, even if I lose my credit toward Mlife Gold, since that would give me 2000 Hyatt points
