WOW Air One Day Sale, $45 Fares to Iceland

WOW Air One Day Sale

WOW Air One Day Sale, $45 Fares to Iceland

The deal is now live.  I checked and found $45 flights mostly on Monday’s and Wednesday’s.  I get an error when I go to book so they may be having website issues right now due to traffic etc.

WOW Air will run a one day promotion for President’s Day with 1000 seats available at a super low price. Let’s check the details.

The Offer

It’s time to celebrate Presidents Day, the most underappreciated U.S. holiday, with the trip of a lifetime! WOW air is offering $45 one-way flights to Iceland from New York (EWR), Boston (BOS), Detroit (DTW) and Baltimore/Washington, D.C. (BWI). Flights are available to book starting Presidents Day, February 18, for travel between March 1 – May 31, 2019.

The offer applies to 1,000 seats on selected flights, only when booked on a return trip.

Key Terms

  • Includes all taxes, fees and carrier charges.
  • Must book on Feb 18, 2019
  • Available for travel March 1 to May 31, 2019.
  • Available for first 1,000 tickets purchased only

$45 is the cheapest fare I’ve ever seen for a flight to Europe. But the catch is that there’s only 1,000 seats available at that price and you need to book a round trip fare. You should still get a great deal, maybe under $200 round trip. Be ready to book on 2/18.

  1. Thanks for the great post! In my opinion, the cheapest points option for those in my area (757 in SE VA) to capitalize on this deal is if you have the Amtrak Rewards credit card (or get it in preparation for this deal). Use that card’s points to get you to BWI from 757 on Amtrak (there is a BWI free shuttle to the Amtrak station & you can go in business class or standard economy if you want to at a value of 2.9 cents per point), then hop on the plane.
Based on my research, for the stay in Iceland, the Marriott, Raddison, & Hilton options do not look like a great value per point, there are no Best Western, IHG, Wyndham, or Hyatt options. Among cards with benefits, there are no Amex fine hotels options or Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection options like with the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Because of the absence of solid points options for hotels that offer good value from my search in Iceland, I would suggest either doing further research (I, of course, didn’t explore every possible option) or booking via with the Venture card with Capital One for 10 points per dollar with Capital One, use Chase pay with points for a hotel, use, (while I’ve used both, it is especially important to exercise discretion and look at review quality & quantity before using either CS or AirBNB), or if you’d prefer to get some additional perks and have status, consider the options with paid stay availability (Marriott, Raddison, & Hilton – I have status with each via credit cards).
