Alliant Cashback 3% Card Available Nationwide

Last week we brought you the details of a new cashback card from Alliant Bank which earns 3% cashback card the first year and 2.5% afterwards on all purchases! For the first year this matches the Discover it Miles doubling offer, however you don’t need to wait until the end of the year to get your cashback.

Here is a reminder of the card details:

  • Earn 3% cash back on all purchases the first year
  • Earn 2.5% cash back on all purchases after the first year
  • No limit to the cash back awards you can earn
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Works with Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay
  • Minimum credit limit of $10,000
  • $59 annual fee, waived the first year

You can find the full details in our original post.

Availability

As of now the card is only available to select Alliant Credit Union members, however I am told it will be rolling out to everyone in April. A representative from the bank reached out and said the following:

The card currently is in a “soft launch” for select Alliant members, but it will be available to all starting in April (just a couple weeks away!).

How to Get A Membership

Alliant Credit Union has pretty lax membership requirements. Employees of many organizations are eligible along with their families. Even if you don’t have a qualifying affiliation, simply donating $10 to Foster Care for Success will make you eligible. This means that just about everyone should be able to join. You can see Alliant’s membership requirements here.

Conclusion

Getting 3% cashback on all purchases your first year with no annual fee is about as good as it gets for everyday non-bonused spend. As of now there isn’t a sign-up bonus, but for those of you who spend a lot, this is a card that is definitely worth looking at both in the first year and even beyond.

  1. Shawn, does one still have to be upgraded to obtain this card or can I just apply, I would love to have this card. I am already a bank member.

  2. My math works out that one would need to spend $11,800 to break even on annual fee versus a 2% card after year 1.

  3. This will be great for those that don’t qualify for the 2.5% USAA Limitless card or have Platinum status with Bank of America to earn 2.625% back with the BankAmericard Travel Rewards card.
