Norwegian Air Adds Non-Stop European Flights from Chicago and Austin
Norwegian Air is still expanding its footprint in the United States. They have added Austin and Chicago O’Hare on their routes with flights starting next spring and Norwegian will add more European routes from cities it already serves.
From both Austin and Chicago, Norwegian will launch non-stop flights to its base at London’s Gatwick airport this spring. The carrier will offer four flights a week from Chicago (starting March 25) and three a week from Austin (starting March 27). The new service on Boeing 787 Dreamliners will launch with fares starting at $174 one way from Chicago and $249 from Austin.
Beyond the two new cities, Norwegian also is adding more destinations from U.S. cities it already serves. The airline will add routes to Paris from Boston, Newark and Oakland.
With the new service announced Wednesday, Norwegian will offer 56 different trans-Atlantic flights from 15 U.S. airports to 13 destinations across France, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Total U.S. routes are actually 62 when including service to French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. The carrier flies to the islands from New York JFK, Providence and Fort Lauderdale.
You can already book the new routes on their website.
While Norwegian offers great prices, there’s tons of fees to watch out for, unless you’re traveling only with a small carry-on. You’ll be charged for advance seat assignment or meal service for the roughly six-hour flight. A checked bag will cost you $45 one way. Check out their optional service charges here.
These are great prices for one way travel to London but just make sure you read up on their fees. You can book the return leg separately.
Don’t forget to use Amex Platinum that offers 5x MR on airfare or Chase Sapphire Reserve for 3x UR on travel.
