All Hyatt Category 1 Properties With Suite or Club Award Nights

There are few better hotel deals out there then Hyatt Category 1 hotel stays. Besides consistently offering great value for the points (almost universally), the fact that the tier starts at just 5,000 points per night is fantastic. This means I can earn a free night after just $3,334 in spending on my Chase Freedom Unlimited card or $1,000 with my Chase Ink Cash. Often, the cash rates for these properties are over $100, netting me an easy 3% back.

But it gets better when you consider the value of redeeming suite or club award nights at Hyatt Category 1 properties.  That is why I wanted to put together a list of all Hyatt category 1 properties with suite or club award nights.

The Awesome Hyatt Category 1

Hyatt has a great award chart with Category 1 properties starting at only 5,000 points per night. Category 2 properties are even a bargain at only 8,000 points. But what I find most appealing about the lowest category is how reasonable club room and suite awards are. Club rooms only cost 7,000 points per night, and suites are just 8,000 points. This is a 40-60% premium over the standard award, but it can often be worth it.

But to be able to use these awards, a hotel must have either a club lounge or suites. So many Category 1 properties are Hyatt Place hotels scattered across the United States. Others may be one of the brands that generally offer these types of rooms, but are lacking an important detail (e.g. the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque does not have a Regency Club).

So I decided to hunt down all the category 1 properties where you can redeem points for these awards. I’ve excluded all Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels which a) don’t have clubs and b) offer free breakfast anyway. Even if they have a larger room that qualifies for a suite night award, the incremental value here is a lot lower.

Hyatt Category 1 Club and Suite Award Property List

I dug into the remaining properties and compiled a list of all the Category 1 properties that offer club access and suite night awards. Some Category 1 Hyatt Regency properties don’t have a Regency Club, but they may still offer suites.

Here is the full list of Hyatt Category 1 Club and Suite Award properties, sortable by name, country, and whether they offer each feature:

Notes on a few of the properties:

  • *Club possibly closed
  • **Standard suite is not a true suite
  • ***Has club, but not sure on club room awards
  • ****Club benefits, but no club

In regard to the international properties, most offer Regency Club access if you book a suite. You’ll need to look into the exact terms of the room. Each hotel page on the Hyatt site generally spells the perks out well, and which suite(s) qualify as standard suites.

In some cases, a premium suite redemption could be very well worth the points. Some places offer 1,000-square-foot multi-room spaces that go for $100s. These are a steal for just 10,000 Hyatt points. You gotta call in, but my understanding is that anything that says “premium suite” is fair game. Even the 202-square-meter presidential suite at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade, complete with “exercise room and full kitchen”!

My Takeaways

There is nothing like getting a room for 5,000 Hyatt points. The Category 1 redemption already holds value. But when I can book a Club Room or Suite for just a hair more, it is very much worth it. My personal short list of Cat 1 properties I’d love to visit:

What’s funny is the value proposition of this strategy decreases if you hit Globalist. Rather than confirming a club or suite reservations ahead of time, I’d be hoping for an upgrade. Plus, you get Club access no matter what, so those awards no longer make sense. Still, if it is an extra special trip (or you just need a ridiculous amount of space), booking a premium suite for 10,000 points isn’t out of the question.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for ways to stretch your Hyatt points, this is a comprehensive look at how to do so while still enjoying extra benefits such as free breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres with lounge access.

Which of the Hyatt Category 1 properties appeals to you the most for redeeming points for a Club access or Suite night award?

  1. HR North Dallas is a craphole. It is where I go though when I need to do mattress runs. Check in my room and my friend’s room who’s sometimes also doing a mattress run. Then come back in the morning for breakfast if traffic isn’t too bad.

  2. Thanks for gathering the information. I’m a Globalist who has club passes as a “perk”. Any idea how many nights these are good for?

    • I don’t believe so. Most suites internationally come with Club access, so it is moot. And applying a Club Upgrade can’t get you any other sort of upgrade.

In the U.S. where a suite doesn’t necessarily come with club privileges, I can see why you’d want to do this.

  3. I love this post. please do all categories. No blogger has composed a list of all the properties that have club lounges.

    • Overwhelmingly, they are Regency and Grand brands. But I’ll look into compiling a post of all, at least U.S. where there are definitely a number *without* club lounges that you’d expect would have them.
